The Primary Election Predictions

Tonight in the primary elections for Ohio, Vermont, Texas, and Rode Island will determine the presidential candidates for both Republicans and Democrats. Currently McCain is ahead of Huckabee for the Republicans, and Obama is ahead of Clinton for the Democratic. I believe that Obama will win out in the primaries because Clinton needs to get all the states to stay in the game, and it is unlikely that this will happen, THANK GOD! I also believe that MacCain will win the primaries for Republicans because he has been doing really well and has some connections with some of the states.

Vulgar Language

Vulgar language and hate speech should not be protected by the First Amendment. The reason for this is that it can be rude, inaccurate, misleading, and impeccable. It serves no purpose because it acheives nothing but frustration. Also the First Amendment describes the freedoms of speech and assembly to be done in an orderly and peacful manner.

The Issue of Religion

In the United States the issue of religion is constantly disputed, when really its not that hard. I believe that religion should be separate from state, but not to the point that we change historical things that were based on a religion. Our Founding fathers were very religious manly a form of Catholicism, but diverse forms, so they designed the government to respect and give freedoms to all religions. Our government is based on Catholic morals, therefore we should not severe all connections. The main areas to keep separate are positions of power and the Judiciary branch. Other than that people, business’s, and even government buildings should be able to display any religion if someone wishes to express their religion.

A Famous Blogger

On February 5, 2008 at Lawrence University in WI, I went to see Andrew Sullivan give a speech. Andrew Sullivan is a famous blogger who runs the popular blog The Daily Dish on www.theatlantic.com. He writes about a variety of different topics including politics, environment, and foreign policies. At the presentation he spoke about his education, his career as a blogger, and the candidates and the election of 2008. He spoke about every candidate listing pros and cons of each, and he made it perfectly clear that he did not support Hilary Clinton, good move.

In the article “False Statements Preceded War” at http://www.huffingtonpost.com, it explains that the Bush administration made about 935 false statements to get us into the Iraq War. The administration had every intention to go to war and after 9-11 they lied about many things including Iraq was part of the terrorist attack and that they had weapons of mass destruction. When my government does something this manipulative I feel that it can not be trusted, just like with Communism and their propaganda. All I have to say is that thank God Bushes term is up.

A Poor Debate

The political debate between Edwards, Obama, and Clinton on January 21, 2008 shows that this election is less about issues and more about criticizing the other candidates. In it Clinton kept attacking Obama about anything she could, and would not give up the stage to anyone else to speak. In response Obama simple defended himself. Edwards was almost completely shut out by this childish bickering and all of the candidates failed to present their views to the public. In my personal opinion Clinton is to selfish and power hungry, Edwards is not direct enough, and Obama is trying to proceed with a fair and respectful campaign.
